Kudos to Mr. Christie. It’s a sad state of affairs when this kind of thing is even news though.

Dude must not want to be VP very much.

It’s insane that this is even a controversy in 2011. WTF.

I can’t say I’m a fan of Chris Christie, but good on him for taking on the crazy anti-Muslim types in his own party.

Kudos to Mr. Christie. It’s a sad state of affairs when this kind of thing is even news though.

So, Thaara the Downdinger (“Minus: 1 Thaara”), what exactly you disagree with? That Christie deserves kudos for his anti-bigot stance? Or that it’s sad that this bigotry is so big it’s in the news?

5 What, me worry?  Aug 9, 2011 8:47:03am

From the article:

Earlier this year, Christie nominated Mohammed to the Superior Court. Almost immediately, the anti-Muslim blogosphere erupted. Pamela Geller, the doyenne of Web-based anti-Muslim prejudice, wrote, “Governor Christie looked and sounded like he could be presidential. He’s not. He’s in bed with the enemy.” The blogger Daniel Greenfield wrote, “New Jersey, the Garden State, has just taken its first step toward becoming the Sharia State.”

Shocka!! The Racist Bigot has an opinion!!

Who are you in bed with honey?

6 HappyWarrior  Aug 9, 2011 9:23:42am

I really hope if Christie runs for president or vice president, he doesn’t abandon this stand. I am not a fan by any stretch but if we can have a prominent national Republican standing up and calling this bullshit out for what it is then that’s one small important step.

It must have been a drive-by dinger.

I’m sick to death that Christie is the only one speaking out against Muslim bigotry. The rest are too damn scared to lose votes so they either say nothing or jump on the bandwagon. They have no souls or no morals or maybe both.

Does the Right in this country even see that?

And while I thought Macro Rubio had some freakin sense when he said,

“I would point out to Muslims all over the world that America is one of the few countries on earth where every faith is represented,” Rubio said. “We have a long and cherished tradition of religious liberties and freedom, and none of that is being questioned in my mind.”

he was NOT in support of the Mosque.

“It is divisive and disrespectful to build a mosque next to the site where 3,000 innocent people were murdered at the hands of Islamic extremism,” Rubio said in a statement Saturday.

He said that last year and I think has been pretty silent since.

Christie shouldn’t waste his time and money running for Pres or VP. No one on the Right wants to listen to him.

Sharia’s lovers on full volume today.
What is Sharia, and why in Unites States of America?
Oh yes, someone can explain why Sharia should be implanted in New Jersey.

Maybe you could explain where Sharia has been ‘implanted’ anywhere that it conflicts with US law.

re: #13 Thaara

Shariah is Muslim religious law, which some Republican politicians, unaccountably, fear will be imminently imposed on the U.S. (Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich have all invoked the specter of Shariah on the campaign trail; even the mainstream Republican candidate Tim Pawlenty believes Shariah may pose a threat to the Constitution, his spokesman told The New Republic.)

Do you have an example of sharia law being imposed in the US?

No, you don’t want to talk. You want to parrot the hysterical Islamophobic talking points of the bigoted anti-Muslim hate bloggers, and you’re apparently annoyed that no one is buying it.

Why hasn’t Thaara put forward one case of Sharia law redefining or superseding US law?

Listen mate, I’m fairly neutral on this issue but your tone is confrontational, not inquisitive.
It would be helpful if you answered questions addressed to you by others and cite specific examples of how sharia law is gaining a foothold in the US.

28 Islamo-Masonic Conspirator  Aug 9, 2011 11:18:17am

Sharia is informally getting foothold in Chechnya, Dagestan, locales like that. The US? Pfft.

As long as you keep linking to Islamophobic web sites, I’ll keep accusing you and your claims about coexistence will fall on deaf ears. If you think I’m going to go to the site you’re linking to and read their filth, you’re sadly mistaken.

You’re the one making the assertion about creeping sharia, therefore the burden of proof is on you.

We’ll be waiting for your examples from mainstream, legitimate sources.

On the meantime, I have work to do, so I’m not going to waste any more time dealing with you.

I don’t see any difference between the writings of Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer et al. and the Russian antisemitic oeuvre of the end of 19th-beg. of 20th century. All the same, just the groups are different.

I know you don’t care about who links to whom, but I find the choices indicate something about the judgement of the person making their list.

Daniel Greenfield’s first link under the category of “War on Terror” is Blogmocracy. That says a lot, none of it good.

I know I’m late getting back here, but what I find interesting is that we can’t even change the Constitution or get new amendments passed. How many years was the ERA going back and forth? And that was well worth passing (in my mind anyway). State constitutions are equally difficult to change.

But some believe that in a blink of an eye, without any voting or discussion the country is going to instantaneously dissolve into the Taliban. And we’re the ignorant ones?
